Details
We’re looking for a Rails programmer who loves challenges and is a bit car crazy. MotorLot is the engine that runs independent auto dealers across the country. We are expanding and think you’ll like working with us.
Some of the things you’ll be working on include:
- Programming deals to calculate correctly, factoring in taxable and non-taxable items.
- Adding in an integration with an outside marketing partner using an API.
- Creating the functionality of our dealer websites.
- Working directly with a dealer to look at why their accounting records are off.
Requirements
2+ years experience building web applications using Ruby on Rails
Experience with MySQL database and writing SQL
Capabilities with (X)HTML and CSS
Experience with Javascript/jQuery
Strong knowledge of version control systems and application deployment
Experience with testing frameworks such as Test::Unit or RSpec
Experience working with API and FTP data imports and exports
Self-motivated and self-managed
Proven capability of working remotely
Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven, dynamic environment
A passion for the technologies of the web
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building B2B applications
Experience in scaling web applications
Experience with test- or behavior-driven development
Experience building with AJAX
Startup or small company experience
Entrepreneurial tendencies, you don’t need direction…we want to set you free to do your best

Details
Our dealers are not computer scientists. As easy as MotorLot is to use, there are still questions on how to use our application. Your other job was working at an Apple store. Or as a very nice car salesman.
Some of the things you’ll be working on include:
- Answering phone calls asking if we do X.
- Replying to an email asking if we have forms for their state.
- Helping to sell the product to customers that call in.
- Creating support videos and documents.
Requirements
Strong organizational, analytic, written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills and self motivated
Experience in a customer service/ technical support environment with a desire to help people
Ability to work 40 hours per week
